Milford, IA (KICD)– Many communities in the local area are continuing to see growth and that is no different for parts of the Iowa Great Lakes, but higher numbers of residents can lead to some added stress on local school districts.
Todd Abrahamson is the Superintendent at Okoboji Community Schools which serves multiple towns between Fostoria and Okoboji. He says increased numbers may push enrollment to new levels.
Abrahamson says that while growth is a good problem to have, the elementary and high school buildings in Milford are already running out of space which has led to the early stages of a possible bond issue that would allow at least some expansion to make sure all students are able to receive the best education possible.
