Spencer, IA (KICD)– One person was seriously hurt when two vehicles collided head-on on the east side of Spencer Sunday evening.

The Spencer Police Department was called to the 1600 block of East 4th Street shortly after 6:30 where two vehicles were found heavily damaged in the eastbound lane.

An investigation at the scene alleges an eastbound vehicle driven by 18-year-old Laci Seymour of Spencer had swerved into the westbound land causing a westbound pickup driven by John Rydell of Spencer to swerve into the other lane only to have Seymour swerve back leading to the collision.

Seymour was originally taken to Spencer Hospital and later airlifted to Sioux Falls for further treatment. Rydell is also said to have sustained minor injuries. Police say alcohol is believed to have played a role a in the crash.
