Fonda, IA (KICD)– Most of Iowa remains in dry conditions but the lack of moisture does not appear to be having a huge impact on the local corn crop.
Tanner Day is an Agronomist at Wells Ag in Fonda. He tells KICD News the current condition of soybeans is maybe a bit worse off than corn but there is still some time to come back.
The latest Drought Monitor released Thursday morning shows no change to conditions in Northwest Iowa compared to last week but worsening conditions in the southeast quadrant with the expansion of a the D3 Extreme Drought. Overall 99 percent of Iowa is considered to be abnormally dry with 89 percent in some sort of drought.
