Estherville, IA (KICD) –Last Friday President of the Alumni and Friends Association Board, Diane Nelsen, presented an Orleans man the 2024 Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award.

Carlton Mitchell was a graduate of then Estherville Junior College in 1963 with an Associate of Arts Degree before going onto Mankato State College.

He has worked within Minnesota school districts until 1993, he served a brief tour in the United State Army during this time as well, where he earned the Army Commendation Medal before moving back to Orleans. Mitchell then served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, as Mayor of Orleans, and most recently, Dickinson County Water Commission Vice Chair.

Mitchell’s extensive career in public service is what has earned him this award.
