Lincoln, NE (KICD)– Some parts of Iowa got some good news Thursday morning when it came to updates to the drought conditions.

The latest update to the USDA Drought Monitor shows a large section of Eastern Iowa improving from a Severe to Moderate Drought with overall area covered by the D2 ranking falling from 43 to 18 percent in the last week.

Nearly ten percent of Iowa also graduated from being in a Moderate Drought to being abnormally dry, the lowest category noted in the weekly report that still covers the entire state.

There were no major changes, positive or negative, noted in Northwest Iowa on Thursday, but some improvement from Severe to Moderate Drought was noted just to the south of Highway 20.
