Lincoln, NE (KICD)– The scattered showers and thunderstorms that led to areas of spotty heavy rain last weekend have resulted in some improvement in local drought conditions.
The biggest change comes to Western Dickinson and far Northeastern Osceola Counties which were both taken out of all drought conditions with northern portions of Clay and Palo Alto Counties along with Northeastern O’Brien being upgraded to abnormally dry.
Looking statewide, the conditions continue to worsen with 67.6 percent of Iowa in at least a D1 Moderate Drought up from 42.6 percent from a week ago.
The area of D3 Extreme Drought over Western Iowa along the Missouri River remains in place unchanged from last week’s update.
