Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The Storm Lake Police Department has charged two teenagers with theft related to an investigation that began last week with officers being called to a report of a hit-run incident.
Juvenile referrals were issued on Monday for a 17 and 16-year-old male after they were allegedly found to have stolen alcohol from a local store on three separate occassions over a span of three days.
The two teens, both of Storm Lake, were charged with three counts of fifth degree theft with the 16-year-old also charged with third degree burglary in connection to a vehicle break-in after he was reportedly found in possession of items from that case after allegedly being intentionally hit by a car driven by a clerk at the store the thefts occurred at.
The 16-year-old was later transported to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee with the 17-year-old being referred to Buena Vista County juvenile courts and released to a parent.
