Spencer, IA (KICD)– The project to construct new tennis courts near Spencer Middle School is starting to take shape.

Engineer Jim Thiesse told the City Council earlier this week that all four of the courts were scheduled to be poured on Tuesday with the initial tension being added in the next few days to pull together any cracks that may have developed in the process.

Thiesse says the courts will then be left to cure for about a month before the contractor returns to put the acrylic surface on.

The new tennis courts are being constructed as a shared entity between the city and Spencer Community Schools. They will essentially replace the aging courts at Fairview Park that have come under disrepair.
