Primghar, IA (KICD) — Quick action by the Primghar fire department prevented an apartment fire from spreading Tuesday morning. A caller reported smoke coming from an eight-plex around 11am.

Chief Cory Crouch says each of the units has its own heating system, and one of the furnaces caught on fire. The used a single hose-line to douse the flames, and also had to pull down some ceiling insulation that was smoldering.

The Sanborn fire department was called as backup. Firefighters were on the scene for about two and a half hours.
