Estherville, IA (KICD)– A quick response and attack plan kept an Estherville structure fire from getting out of control over the weekend.
The Estherville Fire Department was originally paged to 702 4th Avenue South around 3:45 Sunday afternoon where smoke could be seen coming from all sides of the roof.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down flames through a vent in the roof with interior teams then pulling down second floor ceilings to stop any additional fire from spreading.
The American Red Cross was called in to assists eight residents of the property and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze is unknown but is believed to be electrical in nature.
