Spencer, IA (KICD)– Quick action from by-standers kept a fire situation on the south side of Spencer from becoming a bigger issue Wednesday morning.

Spencer Fire/Rescue and the Spencer Police Department were called to 1111 12th Street Southeast shortly before ten o’clock to a report of smoke and flames coming from the exterior siding of the residence.

Once on scene the 12 responding firefighters found the small blaze had already been knocked down and were able to quickly determine there was extension into the interior of the home.
