Brewster, MN (KICD)– Voters in one Southwest Minnesota school district have approved a more than 30-million dollar referendum that will be used to improve school buildings.
Officials with Round Lake-Brewster Schools brought the request to the polls on Tuesday asking for funding to update the structure that in part has served the district for over a century.
The the proposal sent to tax payers involved replacing deteriorating portions of the existing structure while also adding modern classrooms, a new gymnasium, dedicated space for music, art and science, an updated media center, a new cafeteria, a new staff parking lot and safety updates to student pick-up and drop-off areas.
Unofficial results show 219 of the 400 total votes cast were in favor of the measure giving it a 55-percent approval.
