Spencer, IA (KICD)—A group of scattered thunderstorms led to multiple reports of hail in Spencer late Monday night.

A pair of cells originally formed around Royal shortly after 11:30 and quickly merged and strengthened as they moved northeast producing quarter-size hail in Downtown Spencer and stones slightly larger than that according to listener reports on the east side of town right around midnight.

A series of short-lived Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for mostly rural areas of Clay and Dickinson Counties shortly after the hail was reported to the National Weather Service before the storm then crossed into Emmet County and began to weaken.

Any damage reports from the hail can be submitted by calling 800-232-1240 or by sending an email to weather@spencerradiogroup.com
