Washington D.C. (KICD)– Iowa Senator Joni Ernst is among a group of lawmakers leading the charge in working to stop President Joe Biden’s plan to cancel student loan debt for millions of Americans.

In comments made on the Senate floor Thursday morning, Senator Ernst noted this plan would encompass more money going to public education than the federal government has put forth in the history of the United States.

The proposal brought forward suggests that instead of “putting a band-aid” on the problem families and students should instead be given a clear picture of what the total cost of taking out a loan will be before the process is completed.
