Des Moines, IA (KICD)– Three local entities are among those selected to receive grants either through the final phase of the 100-million-dollar Destination Iowa funding or an extra 15 million that has been allocated by the state.

Receiving the most in the local area is the Dickinson County Conservation Board which will get 3.5 million dollars to help develop the new Sherwood Forest Park on the former site of the Inn at Okoboji resort. The award covers roughly 35-percent of the more than 10-million-dollar project.

Also receiving funds through additional state money allocated to the cause will be Pearson Lakes Art Center which will get 185 thousand for the Art Smart Children’s Interactive gallery. Osceola County Conservation Board is getting 200 thousand dollars to help expand the Willow Creek Campground.

All projects funded through Destination Iowa must be completed no later than June 30, 2026.
