The Sheldon City Council heard an update on the development plan on the site of the former Bethel Church.

Developer Casey Shelton told elected officials the original plans for the land were essentially redone to help satisfy concerns raised by local residents.

Shelton was asked to address concerns surrounding increased costs for the project after the minimum bid came in well above the engineer’s estimate.

After seeing the new plan, many residents see some improvement, but there was still some question on what the building process will look like.

The church that once sat on the site being developed was destroyed by fire several years ago and will be moving to a nearby property, but church members like Gene Bomgaars have become involved and approve of the new plan.

Current plans have initial dirt and infrastructure work are expected to begin the Spring with some of the initial residences being turned over to occupants by the end of the year.
