Worthington, MN (KICD)– A Sibley man has been charged with allegedly attempting to burglarize a Southwest Minnesota business.
The Worthington Police Department was called to a local pawn shop on the morning of January 9th where store security footage reportedly showed a van pull into the parking lot the evening before with a man emerging with a hammer in attempt to open the locked door.
The same man, identified as 22-year-old Kiley Akers, allegedly came back to the store a short time later and was stopped a short distance away. A search then led to the discovery of the hammer seen used in the video.
Akers was ultimately taken into custody and charged with third degree attempted burglary, first degree damage to property, possession of burglary tools and 4th degree burglary. If convicted on all charges, Akers faces more than a decade in prison.
