Estherville, Ia (KICD) – Multiple KICD Regional schools competed at the ELC XC Meet in Estherville.

West Bend-Mallard’s Tyra Schupbach dominated the Girls field, running a blistering 18:58.95. Schupbach says she wanted to attack the hills well this season on the course.

North Union’s Alexis Cummins came in 2nd and Estherville Lincoln Central’s Jaselyn Anderson was 6th. Linnea Bloom led Sioux Central in 7th with a time of 22:06.57. Bloom has been dealing with a hip injury, but she was able to battle through it.

Emmetsburg’s Danica Ringlaben was 17th with teammate Anika Stearns 26th. Nadia Berkland came in 34th with a time of 25:02.22. She also talked about battling the hills.

Sioux Central won the girls meet with 60 points, with North Union 4th at 99, Estherville Lincoln Central 5th with 122, Spirit Lake took 6th with 125, and Emmetsburg 7th with 135.

Brandon Hughes continued his dominance for Spirit Lake in the Boys race, ticking a 16:16.48 time for a 1st place finish. Spirit Lake would put 3 runners in the top 5. Sioux Central was led by Leighton Sipple, who took 5th for the Rebels with a time of 17:34.58. Sipple was happy with how he handled the race.

GTRA’s Zach Borchers was 31st. He said he battled well in the race.

Emmetsburg’s Robert Frederick took 54th for the E-Hawks. The Junior was one of the few the Hills worked out for.

Spirit Lake won the Boys meet running away with 31 points. Sioux Central was 3rd with 74, Estherville Lincoln Central was 5th, and North Union 6th.

Neither West Bend-Mallard team had the runners to score. Wolverine Coach Ben Hellman was happy with how the race went for his team.

 

GTRA also didn’t have team scores. Coach Mike Nichols talked about the difficulty of the ELC Meet.

Emmetsburg Coach Jess Biddle talked about how goal setting has driven her team early.

 

Sioux Central Coach Kelsey Miller says Both Rebels teams exceeded expectations.
