Spencer, IA (KICD) — After months of preparation and several work sessions, the Spencer City Council is set to approve next year’s fiscal budget Monday night.
Many cities, school districts, and counties are being impacted by lower revenue blamed on a math error by the state of Iowa. Assistant City Manager Brian Weuve says the impact on Spencer is somewhat limited.
Communities are more concerned about talk that the legislation might eliminate the Local Option Sales Tax.
Weuve says general fund expenses for the city of Spencer will be up about 700 thosuand dollars in the fiscal year beginning July 1st. Three segments of the budget going up significantly are fuel prices, salaries, and removing Ash trees from city property.
