Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Boys Tennis team took on Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday at the Riverview Tennis Courts.
The Tigers took 4 of the six singles matches. Ade’ Thomas won 10-3 over David Padilla of Estherville Lincoln Central. Thomas was happy to win of course, but saw a lot of things he would like to improve on.
The singles match of the day was between Spencer’s Cole McDanel and Ezekiel Funston of ELC. The two went to a tiebreaker where Funston was able to win 7-3.
Spencer swept the doubles matches, giving the Tigers a 7-2 win on the day. Coach Joe Steele had a lot of good things to say about Spencer’s effort against Estherville Lincoln Central.
Jackson Bergstadt and Robbie Gerlock had a pretty good back and forth battle against Eli Ross and Ezekiel Funston in doubles matches, winning 10-6. Bergstadt talked about his and Gerlock’s chemistry.
Spencer had dropped 5 duals in a row at one point against some very high-level teams. Robbie Gerlock thinks the Tigers are on the right track now.
Spencer has now seen every Lakes Conference opponent. Coach Steele was asked how the Conference shakes out with the Tournament approaching.
