Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer community will be served by some emergency equipment in the semi-near future after the city council approved the purchase of two new units last week.

Fire Chief Jesse Coulson explains these new units will be able to perform the duties of as many as five current vehicles making for more efficient efforts.

Chief Coulson says a trade-in like many do with a personal vehicle was not an option to offset part of the more than two million dollar price.

There is up to a 35 month wait to get the new engine built and as much as 45 months before Spencer Fire Rescue will be able to take delivery on its new ariel truck.
