Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer City Council spent some time Monday evening discussing how to move forward with numbers presented in a wage study that is conducted every three years.

Part of the discussion involved Heather Murray, a senior consultant from Cottingham and Butler, describing the job evaluation phase of the study that she says involves multiple steps in its own.

After the initial evaluations were completed and full data analyzed, Murray says the City of Spencer appears to be lagging slightly when compared to other similar cities.

The next steps in this process could include the City of Spencer adopting a new structure when it comes to paying employees, but before any decisions are made, elected officials want to gather some additional information that includes how any changes could affect local taxpayers.
