Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer City Council passed an initial resolution last week that will allow movement of the next steps in potentially constructing a spec building in town.

Brittany Dickie from Cornbelt Power Cooperative says initial numbers show it would likely cost around 1.46 million dollars to put up such a structure in the Technical Park on the west side of the community, but no final moves will be made until all financing is in place.

Dickie says the location for this potential spec building was chosen because the property is essentially ready for construction.

The resolution passed on a five to one vote with Councilman Brian Balk voting against it. If the project goes through as planned, this spec building would be only one available in Northwest Iowa and one of only a handful in the entire state.
