Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer City Councilman Bill Orrison is officially stepping aside and entering into retirement after serving the community for nearly two decades.

Orrison sat down with KICD News to talk about his time in office that has taken place in two stints spanning nearly forty years.

During that time Councilman Orrison has been a part of multiple big projects and improvements.

Orrison says he has had the opportunity to not only work with some great people over the years, but he has also been able to learn a thing or two.

He adds his current plans in retirement are going to continue to keep him very busy.

Orrison’s official resignation date is August 11th which was changed from the end of July to avoid the City of Spencer having to find someone either through appointment or special election to fill the seat through the end of the year and instead simply have it on the regular City/School Election ballot in November with that person then having the ability to step in once the numbers are validated by the Board of Supervisors.
