Spencer, IA (KICD)– For the second time in less than 24 hours, Spencer Fire/Rescue was called into action Thursday morning after receiving a report of a structure fire.

The original call came in shortly after nine o’clock from 1013 West 5th Street where smoke could be scene coming from from the home.

On scene firefighters found flames from a fire on the stove had already been extinguished with no further extension being found.

The fire is believed to have been caused by the ignition of items on the stove when one of the burner was accidentally turned on. There were no injuries reported at the scene, but a dog that was inside was taken to a local veterinarian to be checked out.
