Spencer, IA (KICD)– Newly available numbers are showing an increase in call volume for some Spencer’s first responders.

Fire Chief Jesse Coulson did a comparison of 2023 numbers with those of 2018 and noted a significant in responses across the board.

In the more recent past, Chief Coulson noted there were a number of calls in December with a heavy majority being for medical reasons.

Chief Coulson further noted the fire department will also be purchasing a new piece of equipment that will allow crews to monitor anhydrous ammonia levels and other hazards at a scene thanks to a grant that will cover a large portion of that cost.
