Spencer, IA (KICD)– Emergency crews spent more than two hours Tuesday morning working the scene of a construction equipment fire outside a Spencer hotel.

Spencer Fire/Rescue was called to the area of the Holiday Inn Express a little after six o’clock where a tar kettle was found on fire.

Crews brought multiple attack lines into service in attempt to cool the container with oil booms being placed to keep the product from entering the storm sewer.

Firefighters and police cleared the scene just before nine o’clock with Spencer Public Works being called in to help with cleaning up oil absorbing products.
