Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer High School Drama Department is putting final touches on its Spring feature that will take the stage this weekend.
Director Cara Gerlock tells KICD News “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens” is a comedic murder mystery that will keep the audience guessing throughout the performance.
Gerlock says the show was selected using method new for this year that also involved the students.
The cast for the Spring production varies a wide range of talents including those of Angelo Amendolare who is not only making his acting debut but also serving as the lead role.
Playing opposite Amendolare is Julia Gastelum who represents Allegra Blackwell Worthington, a character unlike any other Gastelum has ever played.
Gastelum is also new to this type of show having only taken part in musicals up to this point which has had her preparing for this role in an entirely different way.
Amendolare adds another fun feature to this show is breaking the “fourth wall” and interacting directly with the audience.
“The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens” will be performed Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00 all in the Larry M. Untiet Theatre at Spencer High School. Tickets are ten dollars for adults and five for kids and can be purchased ahead of time online or in person at the box office ahead of the show.
