Spencer, IA (KICD)– Actors and actresses of Spencer Middle School will be bringing a musical version of a Disney favorite to the stage this weekend.
Stage Manager Chloe Holst tells KICD News Finding Nemo Jr. has many of the same features as the animated film that for many has become a childhood favorite.
Tommy Gerlock plays Nemo’s dad, Marlin. He says one of the main challenges he has had in this role is the added complexity of the character when compared to other shows he has been in.
The star of the show so-to-speak, Evalyn Simpson who plays Nemo, adds another challenge is making it look like the characters are actually portrayed as fish swimming in the ocean.
And then there is the lovable, but very forgetful, fish known as Dory played in the local version by Summer Fliss.
Finding Nemo Jr. will take the stage in the Larry M. Untiet Theatre Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. with a Sunday afternoon matinee at two. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. They can be purchased ahead time by clicking here.
