Spencer, IA (KICD) — Spencer City Council members are getting anxious to start marketing lots in the North Y development.  They asked what the price for a lot will be.  City Manager Dan Gifford says development officials have told him the number a professional appraiser has suggested is too high.  And, Gifford believes the price should be negotiable depending on the buyer and how many jobs are at stake.

City Councilman Loren Reit – who spearheaded the endeavor – says he has personally shown to the area to interested businesses from Des Moines and Mason City, and price never came up.

The council asked that marketing the North Y be placed on a future meeting agenda.  Engineer Ross McWhirter gave an update on the infrastructure Monday night.  He said rain is holding up the work on 24th street.
Gifford says the city is working with Dollar Store in the area so they can gain access to the project and remain on their construction schedule.
