Spencer, IA (KICD)– Winter took its time getting into the region, but now looks to make an appearance in a big way to some parts of the area to start the week.
When snow comes down, snow plowing crews like the Spencer Public Works Department have to jump into action and Director Mark White tells KICD News his team prefers to clear streets during the overnight hours which takes as much as seven hours, but the job is not done yet at that point.
White says there are a series of routes used by plow crews to make sure everything gets cleared starting with what are known as emergency routes.
Residents are also reminded to know the parking rules when it comes to snow in your community. Spencer code says no vehicles are allowed to be parked on city streets from midnight to seven in the morning whenever two inches of snow is either predicted or has already fallen.
