Spencer, IA (KICD)– A Spencer teenager is facing drug charges following a traffic stop north of Spencer last week.

A Deputy with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office initiated the stop late Wednesday night just south of the junction of Highways 71 and 18 where an odor believed to be marijuana was reportedly noticed coming from the vehicle.

Further investigation and a search allegedly resulted in the discovery of multiple controlled substances which led to the 16-year-old driver being taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was later released into the custody of a parent.
