Spencer, Ia (KICD) – There are a couple of Iowa High School Area Players who will be playing in the Annual Shrine Bowl come July in Cedar Falls. The Shriners held a ceromony in Spencer Wednesday night to honor area athletes who will be playing for the North team. One of those athletes is Spencer’s Logan Huckfelt who says he is honored to be apart of the event.
Spencer Football Coach Jim Tighe coached in the contest last summer, and looks back on it as a great experience.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Cooper Ebel will be competing for the North team as well, and he is looking forward to the contest even more now after Wednesday’s Ceremony.
Mark Sanger is the coach of West Hancock and will be a part of the North Coaching staff this season. Sanger talked about being able to coach athletes like Huckfelt and Ebel.
Coach Sanger played in the Shrine Bowl when he was in High School, and he says it was an honor when he was asked to be apart of the coaching staff.
Huckfelt is exited to play alongside and learn from the best Iowa High School Football has to offer.
Ebel is going to be playing football at Iowa State next fall, and he will have to leave summer practice in order to be a part of the Shrine Bowl, but Ebel says he doesn’t think he’ll miss a beat.
