Spencer, Ia (KICD) – Spencer hosted a District Singles and Doubles Tennis Tournament on Wednesday at the Riverview Tennis Courts.

In the Singles Tournament first round, Cherokee’s Rastin Dublinske lost 2 sets to 0 to top seeded Easton Lubarski of Bishop Heelan, Spencer’s Cole McDanel won 2 sets to 1 over LeMars’ Devin DeVall, Spirit Lake’s Will Kleis won 2 sets to nothing against Webster City’s Jesse Toftee, Estherville Lincoln Central’s Matt Valen lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Brayton Ouellette 2 sets to 0, Cherokee’s Henry Retleff beat LeMars’ Kyle Khemraj 2 sets to 1, Spirit Lake’s JD Schneider beat Estherville Lincoln Central’s Leo Fortine 2 sets to nothing, and Spencer’s Ade’ Thomas lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Tyler Grote 2 sets to 0.

For the Singles Tournament Quarterfinals, Spencer’s Cole McDanel lost to Easton Lubarski of Bishop Heelan 2 sets to nothing, Spirit Lake’s Will Kleis lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Brayton Ouellette 2 sets to 0, Cherokee’s Henry Retleff lost to Bishop Heelan’s Brady Shultz 2 sets to 0, and Spirit Lake’s JD Schneider lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Tyler Grote 2 sets to nothing. Grote would go on to win the District Championship.

The Doubles Tournament first round had Spencer’s Steele and Sherrod beat Estherville Lincoln Central’s Alonso and Ross 2 sets to 0, Cherokee’s DeVos and Hoskinson beat Webster City’s Card and Elliott 2 sets to nothing, Spirit Lake’s Beck and Stecker lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Gehling and Jansen 2 sets to 1, Spencer’s Bergstadt and Gerlock lost to Spirit Lake’s Profit and Schneider 2 sets to nothing, Cherokee’s Kohn and Rushman beat Webster City’s Christeson and Nepereny 2 sets to 0, and Estherville Lincoln Central’s Milstead and Funston lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Van Meter and Myers 2 sets to nothing.

In the Doubles Tournament Quarterfinals, Spencer’s Steele and Sherrod beat Cherokee’s Hoskins and DeVos 2 sets to 0 and Spirit Lake’s Profit and Schneider beat Cherokee’s Kohn and Rushman 2 sets to nothing.

For the Doubles Semifinals, Spencer’s Steele and Sherrod lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Gehling and Jansen 2 sets to 1 and Spirit Lake’s Profit and Schneider lost to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Van Meter and Myers 2 sets to 0.

The 3rd Place match had Spirit Lake’s Profit and Schneider beat Spencer’s Steele and Sherrod.
