Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Spirit Lake Athletic Association is set to officially open its new Little League fields this weekend.

President Brooke Beisell tells KICD News the idea behind the three-million-dollar renovation was to give new life to the aging fields for years to come.

Biesell says the biggest update revolves around improved drainage as well as player and fan experience.

Funding the project was also made possible from a number of area sources.

A ribbon cutting is scheduled for the new fields on Sunday afternoon from three to five with opportunities to run the bases and enjoy classic ballpark food available.
