Montgomery, IA (KICD)– A Spirit Lake man was arrested at the scene of a fire in Montgomery last night. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s department says 19 year old Caleb Crosby interfered with fire crews doing their job and refused to leave the scene when ordered to do so. He was taken into custody and searched, with officers finding a zip lock bag containing meth, a glass pipe, and brass knuckles. Crosby was jailed and charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol under the legal age, carrying dangerous weapons as an ineligible person, and two counts of interference.
Spirit Lake fire chief Pat Daly says the fire was in a junkyard, and neighboring agencies were called for assistance.
Precautions were taken so the blaze wouldn’t spread in dry conditions.
Chief Daly says a burn ban has NOT yet been discussed for Dickinson County.
