Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– A Spirit Lake man is behind bars following an incident over the weekend involving a hammer.

Online court records show 43-year-old Eligah Hix was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly entered a home and hit an occupant with a hammer before then punching the victim multiple times.

Hix stands charged with one count of first degree burglary. He is being held in the Dickinson County Jail on 25 thousand dollars bond with a preliminary hearing in the case scheduled for next week.
