Spencer, IA (KICD)– The month of February apparently was not happy with what are considered to be its normal weather conditions, so it decided to adapt those of March.
Temperature was the biggest sticking point in that Spencer ended up more than 13 degrees above normal with two records highs falling in the final week, one of which had been in place since 1874.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan says we saw a lot of the same trends when looking at Meteorological Winter, the months of December, January and February, as a whole.
The warmer and quiet winter thus far is starting to give some folks the itch to get some work done outdoors, but Glisan cautions against some activities considering we are still in a variable time of year with frost still a good possibility.
