Spencer, IA (KICD)– The month of October was full of ups and downs in Northwest Iowa and ended above normal in multiple weather categories.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan notes Iowa as a whole was wetter than normal last month, but the Northwest corner ended up being a bit of an outlier because of one big rainfall event near the middle of the month.
Adding into the nearly seven inches of rain received in Spencer in October was the first measurable snowfall of the year, which Glisan says is not all that uncommon for this part of the country.
We also cannot forget about temperature which in Spencer came in two degrees above normal last month after 31 days of ups and downs including a 62 degree spread between the warmest daytime high of 91 at the beginning of the month and the coldest peak of 29 at the tail end.
