Des Moines, IA (Radio Iowa) — State lawmakers will come together in Des Moines on Tuesday to likely pass a bill that ban nearly all abortions in Iowa.

Senator Dave Rowley of Spirit Lake says the vote on the GOP’s new bill will send a message.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa says recent polls show a growing majority of Iowans support legal abortion and that the agency will continue to fight new restrictions legally making it likely that the issue will once again make its way to the state Supreme Court.

Tuesday’s special legislative session is expected to get underway at 8:30 with a public hearing on the bill scheduled for an hour later.
