Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– A Storm Lake man is facing multiple misdemeanors following a single vehicle crash Monday evening.

Officers with the Storm Lake Police Department were originally called to a rollover incident in the 900 block of East 5th Street which reportedly turned into a foot pursuit when the person believed to be operating the crashed vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.

26-year-old John Garcia was ultimately taken into custody a short distance away where he allegedly showed signs of alcohol impairment.

He stands accused of reckless driving, failing to maintain control, driving while barred, not having insurance and striking fixtures after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and hit a parked vehicle along with a mailbox, sign and tree causing around 10 thousand dollars in damage.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
