Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The City of Storm Lake is working through its early preparations to be ready when RAGBRAI makes an overnight stop in town this summer.
Carl Turner has taken on the Executive Chair role for the planning committee. He tells KICD News some of the initial work actually began before the route was even announced.
Turner says the committee is focused on making sure all of the needed services will be available to riders and other visitors coming to Storm Lake in July especially knowing organizers are taking one big piece off each community’s plate…entertainment.
Of course, an event like RAGBRAI is not possible without support from local residents and those from surrounding areas. In this case, Turner estimates the need for as many for four to five hundred day of volunteers, some which will be needed for transportation purposes.
This will be the seventh time Storm Lake has served as an overnight stop for RAGBRAI with the most recent being in 2015.
