Paulina, IA (KICD) — We typically do not do stories about false calls to law enforcement, but we are getting questions as to why there was an evacuation and heavy police presence in the vicinity of the Paulina Airport yesterday.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s department says they received a call that proved to be erroneous from an individual claiming to have shot another person and threatening other violence.

False calls – known as “slamming” – are illegal. Authorities are investigating.
