Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Boys Soccer team took on a tough Unity Christian side Monday night in Spencer as the #6 ranked Tigers looked to bounce back from their first loss of the season late last week.
It took a while for either side to get going offensively, as the Spencer back line held strong against a bigger, physical Knights group.
Spencer would take the 1-0 lead, finally finding a soft spot in the Unity Christian lines with Mosher and McCusker.
The Tigers would take that lead in to the half.
The second half would also begin slow with neither side finding good looks at the goal. Spencer would extend their lead with a Camden Mosher goal off of a Unity Christian deflection.
The 2-0 cushion didn’t last very long, as 59 seconds later, Elijah Schreurs of Unity Christian was able to score on an open net.
Spencer would pick up a late insurance goal with 7:44 to play from Iain MaCrae off of a nice assist by Romeo Alvarez.
Spencer’s 3-1 win improves them to 9-1 on the year and 6-1 in the NWISL while Unity Christian falls to 6-3 and 4-3 in the league.
Spencer will travel to Sioux City East later this week.
