Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Boys Tennis team had another big challenge in Spirit Lake/Okoboji on Monday at the River View Tennis Courts in Spencer.
SLO jumped all over the Tigers in the singles, winning 5 of 6. Trevor Steele had a good match with Alex Profit, but fell short 10-8. Spencer’s one win came from Ade’ Thomas who beat Will Kleis 10-4.
Spencer was unable to win any of the doubles matches. The duo of Steele and Bergstadt were the closest, losing 10-7.
Coach Joe Steele said quote, “It was a tough meet tonight [versus] conference favorites SLO. Overall, I thought the guys competed well, but just looked tired after a massive week last week. That fatigue didn’t do us any favors tonight against an athletic SLO team.”
Spencer now falls to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Tigers get a nice break before traveling to Storm Lake on Monday.
