The Spencer Tigers were in action on News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD against Newell-Fonda.

The Girls contest was a big one as the Class 4A #14 Spencer Tigers matched up with 1A’s #2 ranked team Newell-Fonda. The Tiger fell behind 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, but responded by outscoring the Mustangs 16-10 in the 3rd quarter to tie the game at 24 going in to the break. Newell-Fonda would eventually pull away after a back and forth second half, beating the Tigers 55-50. McKenna Sievers led the way for the Mustangs with 17 points. Jerra Merchant scored 22 to lead the Tigers. Spencer falls to 10-2 on the year while Newell-Fonda improves to 11-2.

The Tiger boys got out to a fast start, leading Newell-Fonda 16-12 at the end of the 1st quarter, but the Mustangs would outscore Spencer 51-23 over the remaining 3 quarters to come away with a 63-39 win. Carter Sievers led the Mustangs with 29 points while Owen “Olson led the Tigers with 16. Spencer falls to 4-7 on the year and Newell-Fonda improves to 9-2.
