Humboldt, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Tigers took on the Humboldt Wildcats on the road. Humboldt would strike first, scoring a 16-yard rushing touchdown with 7:35 left in the first quarter.

The Tigers answered when Eli Hookfin hit a 31-yard field goal to make the score 7-3 with 11:57 left in the 2nd Quarter. We would go to halftime with that score.

It was a tough second half offensively for Spencer. The Tigers would turnover the ball twice in their own territory, which Humboldt would turn in to field goals each time, giving them a 13-3 lead early in the 4th quarter.

The Tigers would then throw an interception for a 60-yard touchdown, giving Humboldt the 20-3 lead, which they would hold till the end of the game.

Coen Matson led Humboldt in rushing with 77 yards on 22 carries while also throwing for 41 yards.

Spencer’s Adrian Carillo ran the ball 14 times for 65 yards.

The two teams combined for only 314 yards of total offense on the night, and 4 turnovers in a sloppy offensive game.

The Tigers will take on Webster City next week in Spencer while Humboldt travels to Huxley to play Ballard.
