Northwest Iowa (KICD)– Two men have been charged with various drug offenses following separate traffic stops.

The first stop came on the afternoon of January 14th when the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office stopped a pickup about three miles south of Pocahontas where 30-year-old Cory Northup of Independence, Missouri was charged with possession of a controlled substance and for allegedly carrying a dangerous weapon as an ineligible person.

The second arrest came on Monday when an officer with the Rock Vally Police Department initiated a stop for an equipment violation.

The driver, 57-year-old Terrance Buescher, reportedly showed signs of impairment which led to further investigation that allegedly uncovered illegal substances, drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun.

As a result, Buescher was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of failing to affix a drug tax stamp, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, OWI and failure to provide security against liability.
