Spencer, IA (KICD)– Five teenagers have been charged with drug offenses following two separate Clay County traffic stops.

The first stop was initiated late Saturday night in the 1000 mile of Highway 18 for a speeding violation when the Clay County Deputy on scene reportedly picked up a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle which led to the discovery that all of the occupants were in possession of the drug as well as vape pens.

As a result the four teenagers, two seventeen and two sixteen, were all charged with possessing tobacco as a minor and possession of marijuana before being released to their parents.

The second stop took place the following night just outside of Spencer where an illegal substance and a sawed off shotgun were reportedly discovered. That led to 19-year-old Aiden Chaffin being charged with possession of tobacco as a minor, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and possession of an offensive weapon. He was later released after posting bond.
