Everly, IA (KICD)– Two juveniles have been cited following a crash involving a pair of parked vehicles in Everly earlier this month.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 100 block of South Adams Street on the evening of February 10th where two vehicles were found with heavy damage and a third with more minor damage.

An investigation determined two juveniles had been in a southbound pickup when the passenger, who was under the influence of alcohol, reportedly grabbed the steering wheel and stepped on the accelerator sending the truck through a stop sign at a high rate of speed before it collided with the two parked vehicles.

The occupants then allegedly fled on foot and were later apprehended with the driver being served multiple citations including violating a school driver’s license, failing to obey stop signs failing to provide financial liability, leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving. Both occupants were also cited for possessing alcohol as a minor before being released to a parent.
